Community Based learning approach being considered as an option during this Covid pandemic

Reaching out to the underserved with limited learning opportunities

The Ministry of Education (MOE) in Kenya has been adversely affected by the Covid-19 pandemic leading to closure of all learning institutions.    The Ministry is aware of the home learning has disadvantaged majority of the children who have access to online learning .

The Ministry is now considering implementing community based learning approach  (community schooling) where teachers wherever they are, will teach students within their locality at any available space as they await the schools resumption in January 2021.  Further details will be unveiled by the Ministry soon.  This is seen as an option to keep the children busy at home.

Lifting the Barriers used the same approach under the Weekend Inclusive and School Holiday (W.I.S.H project) from 2011-2014 funded by Vastenactie  and its good the same model is being adopted by Government.
